*1 ビックリ箱は英語でJack in the Box（直訳すると箱の中のジャック）と表現される。これは13世紀、イギリス人聖職者のSir John Schorneが悪魔をブーツに封じ込めていたことに由来する。語源はフランス語でビックリ箱が「箱詰めされた悪魔」と呼ばれることにあるとの一説がある。
*2 ドルイドはイギリスの古代ケルト族が信仰したドルイド教の司祭を指す。神木の概念を持っていたことから「オークの賢者」を意味する。
